In addition to traditional dental bridges, Dr. Potts also offers implant-supported dental bridges. This type of bridge is supported by dental implants, which have been placed surgically within the jaw. Implant-supported dental bridges are much stronger than traditional bridges. They are permanent and left in all day and night.
If you are seeking a replacement for one or more missing teeth, I’d be happy to help you determine if a dental bridge would be right for you.
Dallas Cosmetic Dentistry.
A great smile can boost confidence and really change a person’s outward appearance. A chipped or discolored tooth might not seem like a big deal, until it happens to you or a loved one. We have a variety of options that can not only improve the look of your smile, but the improvements we make will appear natural.
- Dental Bonding
- Veneers
- Contouring & Reshaping
- Teeth Whitening
Porcelain veneers require more than one visit because they are hand crafted by our talented lab technician. Veneers have a longer life expectancy and color stability than dental bonding.
This procedure is ideal for candidates with normal, healthy teeth but who want subtle changes to their smile.
Teeth Cleanings (Prophylaxis) & Oral Screenings.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Your health is our top priority, and because oral health affects overall health, we want to keep your smile healthy. We offer dental screenings, cleanings, guidance and many treatment options to do just that.
Gums and teeth benefit from regular brushing and flossing, but dental plaque and stains build up on tooth surfaces over time. Hard deposits can cause decay and that brushing, rinsing, and flossing alone can’t remove. Professional dental cleanings are one of the simplest preventive measures that can help you maintain and enjoy a lifetime of good oral health.
We understand you are busy, and our staff can determine if more than a basic exam and screening x-rays are necessary, and we can discuss more comprehensive care options and more diagnostics, if needed.
Health history screening
Oral-Cancer Screening
An oral cancer examination is fast and painless. We have been specially trained to identify small changes in the tissue of the mouth, lips and tongue that may signify the early stages of this type of cancer. The screening is primarily a visual and tactile (touch) examination. If we note any abnormalities, a small tissue sample can be retrieved for further testing in a laboratory.
Occlusal & TMJ screening (Bite & Jaw Assessment)
We not only take care of teeth and gums, we also can ensure the health of your jaw by diagnosing and treating a temporomandibular joint (jaw) disorder. Patients with TMJ misalignment, can suffer facial, jaw, neck, and shoulder pain; earaches; headaches; and jaw clicking and popping; and the inability to fully open or close their mouth.
Caries Risk Screening
Tooth decay is typically symptomless until there’s already a cavity or a tooth abscess (an infection at the root of a tooth or in the gums), both of which can lead to pain and tooth loss if left untreated. Prevention of tooth decay is our primary focus in retaining healthy teeth.
Periodontal Screening
Research has also shown, and experts agree, that there is an association between periodontal disease and other chronic inflammatory conditions, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory diseases. Therefore, it is very important to treat the inflammation that causes periodontal disease as soon as possible to ensure that your entire body stays healthy.
When Dr. Potts or our professional dental hygienist performs this evaluation, we will look at these six areas to determine the state of your periodontal health: Teeth, plaque, gums, bite, bone structure and risk factors.
X-Rays and Panoramic X-Rays
Because teeth are bones, they are much easier to diagnose with the use of X-Rays. We digital x-rays and also use of Panoramic X-Rays that give us a picture of the entire jaw.
Bite Guard
Bite guards, also called night guards or Occlusal splints, help protect teeth at night from clenched jaws and teeth grinding. Custom-made guards are also great for protecting fillings, crowns, bridges and implants. We can find you the right bite guard to prevent these problems from leading to rapid teeth wear and headaches.
